Get/set ID3 meta tags using ffmpeg

A quick guide on how to read/write/modify ID3 metadata tags for audio / media files using ffmpeg.

FFmpeg has a free-form command line option that allows the user to specify key-value-pairs for encoding metadata. Let's take a look.

1. Read ID3 metadata

To list all global metadata tags for a media file, just set an input but no output file.

Can you trust everything that's signed on your host? This might help you begin to answer that question.
# Get-SystemDriver requires the ConfigCI module on Win10 Enterprise
# This will collect all signer information for all PEs in C:\
# This will take a while!!!
$Signers = Get-SystemDriver -ScanPath C:\ -UserPEs
# Associate the subject name of each certificate to the file/signer info

Notes on (ab)using bash history to record commands to syslog

Logging bash history to syslog

Overview

Bash history was a convenience feature to help a user recall previous commands and not intended to meet any security requirements.

The Linux audit system (or alternate kernel level audit OS facility) is a more robust way to ensure user and process log events are recorded.
