This creates an archive that does the following:

rsync (Everyone seems to like -z, but it is much slower for me)

a: archive mode - rescursive, preserves owner, preserves permissions, preserves modification times, preserves group, copies symlinks as symlinks, preserves device files.
H: preserves hard-links
A: preserves ACLs

The difference between XYZ and TMS tiles and how to convert between them

Lots of tile-based maps use either the XYZ or TMS scheme. These are the maps that have tiles ending in /0/0/0.png or something. Sometimes if it's a script, it'll look like &z=0&y=0&x=0 instead. Anyway, these are usually maps in Spherical Mercator.

Good examples are OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, MapBox, MapQuest, etc. Lots of maps.

Most of those are in XYZ. The best documentation for that is slippy map tilenames on the OSM Wiki, and Klokan's Tiles a la Google.

Each of these commands will run an ad hoc http static server in your current (or specified) directory, available at http://localhost:8000. Use this power wisely.

Use this file to get the CRS definitions you need in southern Africa, particularly South Africa, Lesotho, eSwatini, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Most GIS software now implements the South African CRS (SACRS; incorrectly but popularly known as the "LO" system) which is based on south-oriented (or south-facing, 'west-south up') transverse mercator (TMSO). The codes for these are:

Hartebeesthoek94 or WGS84 datum (post 1999)
- EPSG: all numbers from 2046 to 2055
- ESRI (rather use EPSG): 102480 to 102489
Cape datum (for pre-1999 data)
- EPSG: odd numbers from 22275 to 22293
ESRI (rather use EPSG): 102470 to 102479

I've been interested in computer vision for a long time, but I haven't had any free time to make any progress until this holiday season. Over Christmas and the New Years I experimented with various methodologies in OpenCV to detect road signs and other objects of interest to OpenStreetMap. After some failed experiments with thresholding and feature detection, the excellent /r/computervision suggested using the dlib C++ module because it has more consistently-good documentation and the pre-built tools are faster.

After a day or two figuring out how to compile the examples, I finally made some progress:

Overview

The Configuration Management System (CMS) is a set of tools and data that is used for collecting, storing, managing, updating, analyzing and presenting data about all configuration items and their relationships. A CMS may manage more than one physical Configuration Management Databases (CMDB). Its underlying structure is defined by the Configuration Model, a logical model of the IT organization’s service assets. The CMS is used to store information on all Configuration Items (CIs) under the control of Configuration Management. CIs can be of various types: the CMS almost always covers services and IT infrastructure, but might also cover other item types like policies, project documentation, employees, suppliers, etc.
