Commit message guidelines

Commit Message Guidelines

Short (72 chars or less) summary

More detailed explanatory text. Wrap it to 72 characters. The blank
line separating the summary from the body is critical (unless you omit
the body entirely).

Write your commit message in the imperative: "Fix bug" and not "Fixed
bug" or "Fixes bug." This convention matches up with commit messages

CLI: Virtual Serial Ports

Virtual Serial Ports

We can use socat to create 2 virtual serial ports that are connected to each other locally. This can be useful for debugging serial port applications. Or simulating serial port communication. Or running 2 legacy programs that only communicate with each other over serial ports, such as old DOS games. And of course, for education, since serial communication is probably the most simple communication protocol there is, RS232 is considered at the bottom of the OSI stack, at the "Physical Layer". This is basically a rehash of an original post on CNXSoft - all credit (particularly for the Virtio device arguments used below) belongs to the author of that piece.
