A bash script for automatically downloading new podcast episodes and pretty-printing new files. Works on Linux and BSD/OS X
#!/usr/bin/env bash
# The following script parses podcast feeds and downloads all podcast episodes listed in
# the feed if they don't exist within the target path. The target directory will be created

Setting up Keys on Tails

In a previous post I introduced the Tails operating system, and listed some steps for getting started. I lay out here some steps for configuring SSH and getting started with GPG.

SSH

Go to the .ssh directory and create a private key (identity file) and public key pair.

$ cd ~/.ssh
$ ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -C "<email>"

Getting latest tag on git repository
# The command finds the most recent tag that is reachable from a commit.
# If the tag points to the commit, then only the tag is shown.
# Otherwise, it suffixes the tag name with the number of additional commits on top of the tagged object
# and the abbreviated object name of the most recent commit.
git describe
# With --abbrev set to 0, the command can be used to find the closest tagname without any suffix:
git describe --abbrev=0
