The list of actions listed below was taken mostly from Book Of Zeus with minor modifications and did the job well for Ubuntu version, which was available at that moment (May 2016). This gist was created for internal use and was never meant to be discovered by the web, although Google managed to find and index this page, which was a great surprise for me. System Updates

Keeping the system updated is vital before starting anything on your system. This will prevent people to use known vulnerabilities to enter in your system.

Ubuntu 16.04 Developer Tools Installation

First things first !

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

Standard Developer Tools

sudo apt-get install build-essential git

Stop your running postgres server (your plist name may or may not have specified the version in it, mine had 94 in the name)

launchctl unload ~/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.postgresql94.plist

Upgrade to 9.6

brew update && brew upgrade postgresql

Install and Create Emulators using AVDMANAGER and SDKMANAGER

TL;DR

For an emulator that mimics a Pixel 5 Device with Google APIs and ARM architecture (for an M1/M2 Macbook):

List All System Images Available for Download: sdkmanager --list | grep system-images
Download Image: sdkmanager --install "system-images;android-30;google_atd;arm64-v8a"
