Commit message guidelines

Commit Message Guidelines

Short (72 chars or less) summary

More detailed explanatory text. Wrap it to 72 characters. The blank
line separating the summary from the body is critical (unless you omit
the body entirely).

Write your commit message in the imperative: "Fix bug" and not "Fixed
bug" or "Fixes bug." This convention matches up with commit messages

Debugging Travis CI locally using Docker

This assumes you've got docker-machine installed, running, and can do docker run

1. Get a debug instance running

    docker run --name travis-debug -dit quay.io/travisci/travis-ruby /sbin/init
    docker exec -it travis-debug bash -l
// inside boot()
resolve(EngineManager::class)->extend('elasticsearch', function () {
return new ElasticsearchEngine(ClientBuilder::fromConfig(config('scout.elasticsearch.config')), config('scout.elasticsearch.index'));
});

Use bitsadmin to download via the command line on Windows 7 (8?)

Download via the command line on Windows 7

If you want to test your connection or have some other reason to use the command line to download a file, this is how.

See http://superuser.com/a/284147 for more information.

Open cmd.exe and use this format:

bitsadmin /transfer debjob /download /priority normal http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/i386/iso-hybrid/debian-live-8.7.1-i386-xfce-desktop.iso D:\Users\[Username]\Downloads\debian-live-8.7.1-i386-xfce-desktop.iso

Easy way to convert MKV to MP4 with ffmpeg

Converting mkv to mp4 with ffmpeg

Essentially just copy the existing video and audio stream as is into a new container, no funny business!

The easiest way to "convert" MKV to MP4, is to copy the existing video and audio streams and place them into a new container. This avoids any encoding task and hence no quality will be lost, it is also a fairly quick process and requires very little CPU power. The main factor is disk read/write speed.

With ffmpeg this can be achieved with -c copy. Older examples may use -vcodec copy -acodec copy which does the same thing.

These examples assume ffmpeg is in your PATH. If not just substitute with the full path to your ffmpeg binary.
