This is a script to convert every table in a Microsoft SQL Server database backup (.bak file) to a .csv file
#!/usr/bin/env bash
# import an MS SQL .bak backup file to an MS SQL database, then export all
# tables to csv. run this script as `import.sh <filename>`. It expects to be
# run in the same directory as the backup file.
# this is only tested on my mac (OS X Catalina). I tried to stick to posix, but
# It will probably require some tweaking for you. I hope it gives a general
# sense of what you need to do at the very least.

How to make a Release Android App debuggable

How to make a Release Android App debuggable

Let's say you want to access the application shared preferences in /data/data/com.mypackage.
You could try to run adb shell and then run-as com.mypackage ( or adb shell run-as com.mypackge ls /data/data/com.mypackage/shared_prefs), but on a production release app downloaded from an app store you're most likely to see:

run-as: Package 'com.mypackage' is not debuggable

Elixir metaprogramming example
# This is an example of metaprogramming in the Elixir language.
#
# We will define a domain specific language (DSL) for the definition
# of a service which is watched by several sensors.
# Each sensor watches some property/functionality of the service and
# returns the result of the check.
#
# To determine if the service is functioning properly, we need functions
# to run all the sensors' code and gather the returned data.

#!/usr/bin/env ruby

# It basically ensures that:
# 1. There are no uncommited files
# 2. You can ssh to github
# 3. You can connect to heroku

How to use Rails 3.0's new notification system to inject custom log events

Instrument Anything in Rails 3

With Rails 3.0 released a few weeks ago I've migrated a few apps and I'm constantly finding useful new improvements. One such improvement is the ability to log anything in the same way that Rails internally logs ActiveRecord and ActionView. By default Rails 3 logs look slightly spiffier than those produced by Rails 2.3: (notice the second line has been cleaned up)

Started GET "/" for 127.0.0.1 at Mon Sep 06 01:07:11 -0400 2010
  Processing by HomeController#index as HTML
  User Load (0.2ms) SELECT `users`.* FROM `users` WHERE (`users`.`id` = 3) LIMIT 1
  CACHE (0.0ms) SELECT `users`.* FROM `users` WHERE (`users`.`id` = 3) LIMIT 1

Rendered layouts/_nav.html.erb (363.4ms)

Ruby/Clojure analogs
For each Ruby module/class, we have Ruby methods on the left and the equivalent
Clojure functions and/or relevant notes are on the right.
For clojure functions, symbols indicate existing method definitions, in the
clojure namespace if none is explicitly given. clojure.contrib.*/* functions can
be obtained from http://github.com/kevinoneill/clojure-contrib/tree/master,
ruby-to-clojure.*/* functions can be obtained from the source files in this
gist.
If no method symbol is given, we use the following notation:
