macOS is a Unix, and not built on Linux.

I think most of us realize that macOS isn't a Linux OS, but what that also means is that instead of shipping with the GNU flavor of command line tools, it ships with the FreeBSD flavor. As such, writing shell scripts which can work across both platforms can sometimes be challenging.

Homebrew

Homebrew can be used to install the GNU versions of tools onto your Mac, but they are all prefixed with "g" by default.

All commands have been installed with the prefix "g". If you need to use these commands with their normal names, you can add a "gnubin" directory to your PATH from your bashrc.

open Terminal, go to the dir : cd /Applications/Beyond Compare.app/Contents/MacOS
change the name BCompare to BCompare.bak: mv BCompare BCompare.bak
touch a file name BCompare , and chmod a+ux BCompare : touch BCompare && chmod a+ux BCompare
open BCompare with text editor, insert the script :

I changed it to be a script, and fixed some issues related to handling of versions.

Vim without NERD tree or CtrlP

I used to use NERD tree for quite a while, then switched to CtrlP for something a little more lightweight. My setup now includes zero file browser or tree view, and instead uses native Vim fuzzy search and auto-directory switching.

Fuzzy Search

There is a super sweet feature in Vim whereby you can fuzzy find your files using **/*, e.g.:
