The Iris Dataset

This is the "Iris" dataset. Originally published at UCI Machine Learning Repository: Iris Data Set, this small dataset from 1936 is often used for testing out machine learning algorithms and visualizations (for example, Scatter Plot). Each row of the table represents an iris flower, including its species and dimensions of its botanical parts, sepal and petal, in centimeters.

The HTML page provides the basic code required to load the data and display it on the page (as JSON) using D3.js.

Font Face

A mixin for writing @font-face rules in SASS.

Usage

Create a font face rule. Embedded OpenType, WOFF2, WOFF, TrueType, and SVG files are automatically sourced.

How to upload a file with $.ajax to AWS S3 with a pre-signed url

Upload a file with $.ajax to AWS S3 with a pre-signed url

When you read about how to create and consume a pre-signed url on this guide, everything is really easy. You get your Postman and it works like a charm in the first run.

Then you open your browser, try your usual $.ajax() and send your PUT operation, and you hit the cold iced wall of AWS error message, a simple <Code>SignatureDoesNotMatch</Code> that will steal hours from your productivity.

So here I come to save you and give you a free working example of how to upload a file directly to AWS S3 from your browser. You are wellcome :).

OAuth

OAuth is a mechanism that allows a user to authorize your application to access his/her data from another service without giving you their authentication details.

For a banking monitoring application (e.g. your application reads the user's banking data and displays it within some useful diagrams), the steps could look something like the following:

  1. User requests API action from your application (e.g. show me my spending graph)
  2. Your application requests access to your bank
  3. User's bank service tells the users your application would like access to it
  4. User accepts or declines the request to access your banking data
  5. The bank provides a temporary code to your application
  6. Your app requests a token while passing back the code it was given from the bank
