Remove and ignore .DS_Store files in git repository
# Ignore .DS_Store files from a git repository
# Find and remove existing files from the repository:
find . -name .DS_Store -print0 | xargs -0 git-rm
# Add the line ".DS_Store" to the file .gitignore, which can be found at the top level of your repository (or created if it isn't there already)
git add .gitignore
git commit -m ".DS_Store banished!"

This sample code (written in Python) demonstrates integrating Facebook Chat using the X-FACEBOOK-PLATFORM authentication mechanism.
#!/usr/bin/env python
# This is a demonstration script for Facebook Chat
# using the X-FACEBOOK-PLATFORM SASL mechanism.
# It requires pyfacebook and pyxmpp to be installed.
# This client only works for desktop applications (configured in the
# developer app), and uses the old-style auth.getSession mechanism to get a
# Facebook session. For newer-style or web apps, only the
# `get_facebook_client` function should have to change.

verbatim Django template tag
"""
jQuery templates use constructs like:
{{if condition}} print something{{/if}}
This, of course, completely screws up Django templates,
because Django thinks {{ and }} mean something.
Wrap {% verbatim %} and {% endverbatim %} around those
blocks of jQuery templates and this will try its best

A simple snippet you can add to your bookmark bar (insert javascript: in front) to measure rendering performance of a state of a webpage
javascript:(function (window,$,runs) { var t = new Date(), i = 1, timetaken,offset = $(window).scrollTop(); $(window).bind('scroll.scrolltest',function () { if (i >= runs) { timetaken = (new Date) - t; console.log('Time taken for '+runs+' scrolls: ',timetaken,' - time per scroll: ', timetaken/runs); $(window).unbind('scroll.scrolltest'); return; } i++; doScroll(); }); function mod (x,y) { return Math.round((x/y - Math.floor(x/y)) *2); } function doScroll () { setTimeout(function(){ $(window).scrollTop(offset + mod(i,2)*100); },0); } doScroll(); })(window,jQuery,500);
