From 0 to OMG my new laptop is almost ready for some coding!
#! /bin/sh
# Enable FileVault
if [[ `fdesetup status` != "FileVault is On." ]]; then
sudo fdesetup enable

This is all based on the [alpha release][1].

Properties

From the built-in help system:

For many settings, TextMate will look for a .tm_properties file in the current folder, and in any parent folders (up to the user’s home folder).

These are simple «setting» = «value» listings, where «value» is a format string in which other variables can be referenced.

A Rakefile that standardises program env installation and guides the user, as opposed to crashing with Ruby exceptions such as `LoadError`. The only case where this will *never* work reliably is if you use the `rubygems-bundler` (NOEXEC) plugin, which introduces chicken-and-egg problems.
# Do *not* load any libs here that are *not* part of Ruby’s standard-lib. Ever.
desc "Install all dependencies"
task :bootstrap do
if system('which bundle')
sh "bundle install"
sh "git submodule update --init"
# etc
else
$stderr.puts "\033[0;31m[!] Please install the bundler gem manually: $ [sudo] gem install bundler\e[0m"

Using the "More" button. Of course the simple way that Apple uses in Mail/iOS is not public. rdar://16600859

// Hide the More/Delete menu.

WAL-E + Postgres 9.x (single server + DB) Setup and Recovery

A quick "how to" on what you need to do to both setup AND recover a single-server PostgreSQL database using WAL-E

  • WAL-E: https://github.com/wal-e/wal-e
  • Assuming Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ("Precise")
  • We'll be using S3. Make sure you have an IAM in a group with GetObject, ListBucket and PutObject on the bucket you want to use (and that it's not public).

Setup:

Whiteboard Picture Cleaner - Shell one-liner/script to clean up and beautify photos of whiteboards!
