Simple Github -> Discord webhook

Step 1 - Make a Discord Webhook

  1. Find the Discord channel in which you would like to send commits and other updates

  2. In the settings for that channel, find the Webhooks option and create a new webhook. Note: Do NOT give this URL out to the public. Anyone or service can post messages to this channel, without even needing to be in the server. Keep it safe! WebhookDiscord

Step 2 - Set up the webhook on Github

  1. Navigate to your repository on Github, and open the Settings Settings

Example code for connecting to and using a postgres database using discord.py and asyncpg.
# asyncpg docs: https://magicstack.github.io/asyncpg/current/
# This uses discord.py rewrite branch and .format(). If you are using the async branch of discord.py, it shouldn't matter much
# as only 'await ctx.send()' is something you should need to change. If you are using python 3.6+, you can use f strings as opposed to
# .format() for increased efficiency.
import discord
from discord.ext import commands
import asyncio
import asyncpg

Installing Python 3.7.4 on Raspbian

As of July 2018, Raspbian does not yet include the latest Python release, Python 3.7.4. This means we will have to build it ourselves, and here is how to do it.

  1. Install the required build-tools (some might already be installed on your system).

Discord emoji mapping. This is a JSON file! Please load it with json. Attempting to copy-paste it directly into python will not work! For diversity, see: https://gist.github.com/Vexs/9e4c14d41161590ca94d0d21e456fef0
