This describes how I setup Atom for Clojure Development.

Atom Clojure Setup

This describes how I setup Atom for an ideal Clojure development workflow. This fixes indentation on newlines, handles parentheses, etc. The keybinding settings for enter (in keymap.cson) are important to get proper newlines with indentation at the right level. There are other helpers in init.coffee and keymap.cson that are useful for cutting, copying, pasting, deleting, and indenting Lisp expressions.

The Atom documentation is excellent. It's highly worth reading the flight manual.

“I perfectly understand our CSS. I never have any issues with cascading rules. I never have to use !important or inline styles. Even though somebody else wrote this bit of CSS, I know exactly how it works and how to extend it. Fixes are easy! I have a hard time breaking our CSS. I know exactly where to put new CSS. We use all of our CSS and it’s pretty small overall. When I delete a template, I know the exact corresponding CSS file and I can delete it all at once. Nothing gets left behind.”

Some guidelines for doing a code review

Here are some general guidelines to consider when reviewing a pull request:

  • Is the code covered by tests? *
  • Are there any tests cases that are missing? *
    • Unit tests - for any model changes *
    • Acceptance tests - ???infrastructure needed
    • Integration tests - for any front end behavior change *
    • Black box testing? infrastructure needed
    • Controller tests - for any controller changes *
  • Rake / release tasks - manually run them? *
