Technical task

Bowling ScoreCard

The Task

Count and sum the scores of a bowling game for one player.

A bowling game consists of 10 frames in which the player tries to knock down the 10 pins. In every frame the player can roll one or two times. The actual number depends on strikes and spares. The score of a frame is the number of knocked down pins plus bonuses for strikes and spares. After every frame the 10 pins are reset.

January Tech Test Week

  • Are you having fun?
  • Are you a better developer than you were yesterday?
  • Can you solve a challenging technical problem by writing well crafted code?

This week is especially good for focusing on the question, "am I a better developer than I was yesterday?"

There are four tech tests this week. This means you can start from scratch four times. It means you can reflect on what was good and what was bad four times. And it means you can try new things to improve four times.

The Echo App spec

An app that repeats what you say until you exit it!

(As the customer, you'll have this in your head and the dev will hopefully discover it by asking questions.)

  • The app runs on the command line.

  • It's fine to use Ruby or JavaScript.
