Run cron on docker with job output directed to stdout

You'd like a docker container that runs cron jobs, with the output of those cron jobs going to stdout so they are accessible as docker logs. How do you do that?

Install cron, and set it up to run in the foreground

In your Dockerfile, apt-get -y install cron Use apk or whatever if you are running on alpine or another distribution Set the command or entrypoint in your Dockerfile to run cron 9n the foreground

ENTRYPOINT ["/usr/sbin/cron", "-f"]

Bash -- sleep until a specific time, like tomorrow midnight
#!/bin/bash
# Sometimes you want to sleep until a specific time in a bash script. This is useful, for instance
# in a docker container that does a single thing at a specific time on a regular interval, but does not want to be bothered
# with cron or at. The -d option to date is VERY flexible for relative times.
# See
# https://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/manual/html_node/Relative-items-in-date-strings.html#Relative-items-in-date-strings
# For details
# ALPINE USERS: You will need to install coreutils, as the built-in busybox date does not handle -d correctly.

Remove SentinelOne agent from Mac. Because honestly, it doesn't seem to do anything at all. Run as root, best is to do this from a recovery mode, single user mode with writeable filesystem, ...

USE AT OWN RISK

This was only tested on a 'partial' SentinelOne installation on the High Sierra beta, where SentinelOne was never allowed to enable it's kernel extension. (Some things failed while I was messing around with OS betas.)

This script is most likely outdated.

A lot happens in 2+ years, at this point there's a good chance this script will do more harm than good. Read the comments before using!

Prevent proxy/VPN streaming error messages from Netflix when using a Hurricane Electric IPv6 tunnel.

Workarounds for Netflix and the blocking of Hurricane Electric IPv6 tunnels

The dreaded "You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy." error message. Cool story bro.

This gist was essentially created out of my own rant about Netflix being hostile to IPv6 tunnel services since June 2016. You are welcome to read my opinion on the matter, this is the more technical side to the issue and how to combat it within your own network.

Since I wrote this, various GitHub users have contributed their thoughts and ideas which has been incorporated into this gist. Thank you to everyone who have contributed their own methods and implementations.

The problem

Netflix now treats IPv6 tunnel brokers (such as Hurricane Electric) as proxy servers. A while ago it became apparent to users and Netflix that somewhat by accident, IPv6 tunnel users were being served content outside of their geolocation because of the way Netflix was identifyi

Endpoint Security VPN FULL start/stop script for Mac OS X
#!/bin/bash
#
# The reason of creating this script is that Endpoint Security VPN installs it's own application firewall kext cpfw.kext
# which prevents for example PPTP connections from this computer, which is not appropriate if you need subj connection just
# from time to time
#
# Usage: ./checkpoint.sh
#
# The script checks if Enpoint Security VPN is running. If it is, then it shuts it down, if it is not, it fires it up.
# Or, make an Automator action and paste the script.
