Running redis using upstart on Ubuntu

I've been trying to understand how to setup systems from the ground up on Ubuntu. I just installed redis onto the box and here's how I did it and some things to look out for.

To install:

start new:

tmux

start new with session name:

WAL-E needs to be installed on all machines, masters and slaves.

How to install WAL-E

Only one machine, the master, writes WAL segments via continuous archiving. The configuration for the master postgresql.conf is:

archive_mode = on
archive_command = 'envdir /etc/wal-e.d/env wal-e wal-push %p'
archive_timeout = 60

Prefix key

The default prefix is C-b. If you (or your muscle memory) prefer C-a, you need to add this to ~/.tmux.conf:

remap prefix to Control + a

	Mac OS X has only 16K ports available that won't be released until socket
	TIME_WAIT is passed. The default timeout for TIME_WAIT is 15 seconds.
	Consider reducing in case of available port bottleneck.

	You can check whether this is a problem with netstat:
