class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base
...
#Problem:
#In rails 3.0.1+ it is no longer possible to do this anymore;
# rescue_from ActionController::RoutingError, :with => :render_not_found
#
#The ActionController::RoutingError thrown is not caught by rescue_from.
#The alternative is to to set a catch-all route to catch all unmatched routes and send them to a method which renders an error
#As in http://techoctave.com/c7/posts/36-rails-3-0-rescue-from-routing-error-solution

Template- and asset-aware ETags

Declared ETags, together with Russian Doll caching, can be used to automatically mix your template and asset versions into the ETags set in your controllers. This avoids the need to blow all browser caches on each deploy and neatly contains the scope of "freshness fallout" when you tweak a view.

To include the template's version in the ETag:

  # Incorporate the cache version for this action into our ETag.
  # This allows template changes to bubble up into HTTP cache
  # freshness and bust browser caches when we make changes.
  etag do
    begin

This is how we use Google Analytics with Turbolinks. I put this in a analytics.js.coffee file and require it after turbolinks. That's it. Works on browsers that support Turbolinks and those that don't. Also works with parts of your app that may not use Turbolinks. If you need to record pageviews manually for any reason, just call GoogleAnalytics…
class @GoogleAnalytics
@load: ->
# Google Analytics depends on a global _gaq array. window is the global scope.
window._gaq = []
window._gaq.push ["_setAccount", GoogleAnalytics.analyticsId()]
# Create a script element and insert it in the DOM
ga = document.createElement("script")
ga.type = "text/javascript"
