How To Work With Multiple Github Accounts on your PC

How To Work With Multiple Github Accounts on a single Machine

Let suppose I have two github accounts, https://github.com/rahul-office and https://github.com/rahul-personal. Now i want to setup my mac to easily talk to both the github accounts.

NOTE: This logic can be extended to more than two accounts also. :)

The setup can be done in 5 easy steps:

Steps:

  • Step 1 : Create SSH keys for all accounts
  • Step 2 : Add SSH keys to SSH Agent

How to rename your Git master branch to main.

To rename your Git master branch to main, you must do the following steps:

  1. Navigate to your repository in the command line and issue the following commands: - git branch -m master main - git push -u origin main

  2. Change your default branch on GitHub by going to your GitHub repository in your browser, and navigate to Settings > Branches and click on the dropdown and switch from master to main and click Update (this will only show if you have two or more branches). The main branch is now your default branch.

  3. Update the tracking of the branch from your command line with the following command: - git branch -u origin/main main

Create a bind mount from a Proxmox host on an unprivileged lxc container

Proxmox Assign Bind Mount To Unprivileged Container

In order for the LXC container to have full access the proxmox host directory, a subgid is set as owner of a host directory, and an ACL is used to ensure permissions.

Bind Mount dataset to LXC

Add the following line to /etc/pve/lxc/<CT_ID>.conf

mp0:/mount/point/on/host,mp=/mount/point/on/lxc

Create group on host

In the default Proxmox configuration, unpriviliged container subgids will have the prefix "10" followed by the expected 4-digit gid.

How to create an HTTPS certificate for localhost domains

This focuses on generating the certificates for loading local virtual hosts hosted on your computer, for development only.

Do not use self-signed certificates in production ! For online certificates, use Let's Encrypt instead (tutorial).
