Contains character codes in HEX (hexadecimal), decimal number, name/description and corresponding printable symbol.
What is Unicode?
Unicode is a standard created to define letters of all languages ​​and characters such as punctuation and technical symbols. Today, UNICODE (UTF-8) is the most used character set encoding (used by almost 70% of websites, in 2013). The second most used character set is ISO-8859-1 (about 20% of websites), but this old encoding format is being replaced by Unicode.

Performance Tuning

Three system configuration parameters must be set to support a large number of open files and TCP connections with large bursts of messages. Changes can be made using the /etc/rc.d/rc.local or /etc/sysctl.conf script to preserve changes after reboot.

1. /proc/sys/fs/file-max: The maximum number of concurrently open files.

fs.file-max = 1000000

2. /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_max_syn_backlog: Maximum number of remembered connection requests, which are still did not receive an acknowledgment from connecting client. The default value is 1024 for systems with more than 128Mb of memory, and 128 for low memory machines.

net.ipv4.tcp_max_syn_backlog = 3240000

3. /proc/sys/net/core/somaxconn: Limit of socket listen() backlog, known in userspace as SOMAXCONN. Defaults to 128.

Limit Chrome from eating all the memory and CPU

I was tired of Chrome eating all my laptop resources so I decided to put some limit to it with cgroup.

As I was using Ubuntu 12.04 with support for cgroup, I installed the package cgroup-bin and add the following group to the file /etc/cgconfig.conf:

How to create Trello Cards from the Command Line (with a ~10 minute set-up)
  1. This is quick and dirty and not terribly maintainable. But it's very useful for creating quick cards from the terminal. Requires familiarity with Trello and a basic understanding of bash.
  2. Log-in to Trello.
  3. Go to: https://trello.com/1/appKey/generate
  4. Make note of your key. Replace any mention of YourTrelloKey with this hash.
  5. Create a token. Go to https://trello.com/1/authorize?key=YourTrelloKey&name=SimpleBASHScript&expiration=never&response_type=token&scope=read,write in your browser and follow directions.
  6. Make note of the token. Replace any mention of YourTrelloToken with this looong hash.
  7. Pick a reasonable number of the most popular boards you use. Grab the URLs of those boards. At the same time, think of short, one-word, easy-to-remember names for each board (e.g., work, homeprojects, wedding).
