This gist describes a new feature we're experimenting with for Sass 3.2: placeholder selectors. They do not get generated into your output, but they can be used like a class and extended like one.
$gutter: 10px;
$grid-unit: 60px;
%clearfix {
*zoom: 1;
&:after {
content: "\0020";
display: block;
height: 0;
clear: both;

Sass/Less Comparison

In this document I am using Sass's SCSS syntax. You can choose to use the indented syntax in sass, if you prefer it, it has no functional differences from the SCSS syntax.

For Less, I'm using the JavaScript version because this is what they suggest on the website. The ruby version may be different.
