Upgrade Node.js with Homebrew
$ brew upgrade node
==> Upgrading node

######################################################################## 100.0%

==> Caveats
Homebrew has NOT installed npm. We recommend the following method of
installation:
curl http://npmjs.org/install.sh | sh

Checkout github pull requests locally

Locate the section for your github remote in the .git/config file. It looks like this:

[remote "origin"]
	fetch = +refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*
	url = [email protected]:joyent/node.git

Now add the line fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/origin/pr/* to this section. Obviously, change the github url to match your project's URL. It ends up looking like this:

My ZSH Theme

agnoster.zsh-theme

A ZSH theme optimized for people who use:

  • Solarized
  • Git
  • Unicode-compatible fonts and terminals (I use iTerm2 + Menlo)

For Mac users, I highly recommend iTerm 2 + Solarized Dark

An example function used to demonstrate how meta data is typically saved in a WordPress theme or plugin. The gist is made public so that developers can contribute to the standard security boilerplate functionality in order to simplify, reduce, and improve our serialization functions.
<?php
/**
* An example function used to demonstrate how to use the `user_can_save` function
* that provides boilerplate security checks when saving custom post meta data.
*
* The ultimate goal is provide a simple helper function to be used in themes and
* plugins without the need to use a set of complex conditionals and constants.
*
* Instead, the aim is to have a simplified function that's easy to read and that uses
* WordPress APIs.

In wordpress, a better way to check if an author has a gravatar or not. Sometimes you might want to check to see if a gravatar exists and not display any image if there isn't one. Uses the wordpress HTTP and caching apis. A better version of this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Gravatars#Checking_for_the_Existence_of_a_Gravatar
/**
* Utility function to check if a gravatar exists for a given email or id
* @param int|string|object $id_or_email A user ID, email address, or comment object
* @return bool if the gravatar exists or not
*/
function validate_gravatar($id_or_email) {
//id or email code borrowed from wp-includes/pluggable.php
$email = '';
