OSX can capture WiFi packets using only tcpdump (and without needing a clunky interface such as KisMAC). Used for testing security strength of home WiFi setup.
#! /bin/bash
# This is for Mac OSX only.
# =============================================
# explanation of arguments used with 'tcpdump':
# =============================================
# -y IEEE802_11_RADIO => makes it capture __WIFI__ packets, turns resultant file
# into a dump which can be read by aircrack-ng, etc.
#
# -I => puts interface into monitor mode (required to capture packets)

Notes From "Practical Object-Oriented Design In Ruby" by Sandi Metz

Chapter 1 - Object Oriented Design

The purpose of design is to allow you to do design later, and it's primary goal is to reduce the cost of change.

SOLID Design:

  • Single Responsibility Principle: a class should have only a single responsibility
  • Open-Closed Principle: Software entities should be open for extension, but closed for modification (inherit instead of modifying existing classes).
  • Liskov Substitution: Objects in a program should be replaceable with instances of their subtypes without altering the correctness of that program.
  • Interface Segregation: Many client-specific interfaces are better than one general-purpose interface.

This gist shows you how to define your discriminator maps at child level in doctrine 2. Why? Because your parent class shouldn't be aware of all it's subclasses. Please read my article for more explanation: https://medium.com/@jasperkuperus/defining-discriminator-maps-at-child-level-in-doctrine-2-1cd2ded95ffb
<?php
namespace My\Namespace;
/**
* This Listener listens to the loadClassMetadata event. Upon this event
* it hooks into Doctrine to update discriminator maps. Adding entries
* to the discriminator map at parent level is just not nice. We turn this
* around with this mechanism. In the subclass you will be able to give an
* entry for the discriminator map. In this listener we will retrieve the
* load metadata event to update the parent with a good discriminator map,

Validator that accounts for context of validation
<?php
// After injecting the class into your controller, you would call it on a method like so
// store here is the context
// this will validate it against that set of rules
$this->validator->validate(Input::all(), 'store');
