Vim will move the cursor to the beginning of an object after invoking operator upon it. From an interactive editing perspective this may be considered annoying however it is the consistent choice as operators can be destructive. As such restoring the cursor to its prior position after invoking an operator on an object may not make sense.

There are many ways possible to alter this behaviour to your preference with mappings and/or scripting. But with custom operator mappings this can be particularly ugly.

Hidden Gems, using players total (forever) as a popularity measure

This post contains a ranking of Steam games, based on a score intended to favor "hidden gems". A "hidden gem" is defined as a high-quality game (hence the "gem") which only got little attention (hence "hidden"). Therefore, the score of a game is defined as the product of a quality measure (its Wilson score) and a decreasing function of a popularity measure (its players total forever). The quality measure comes from SteamDB and the popularity measure comes from SteamSpy API. Finally, here is a reference to the NeoGAF post explaining the method, and the NeoGAF post explaining the idea behind the optimization of the only free parameter. The Python source code can be found on Github.

Vim keys table
Legend: 'n' - not used in stock Vim
'y' - used in stock Vim
's' - synonym for something in stock Vim
'c' - key that continues, i.e. waits for another key; if 'showcmd' is
set, these are generally the cases where partial commands appear
on the status bar
The table assumes 'insertmode' and 'allowrevins' are not set.

Custom pseudo-text objects

This is a list of custom pseudo-text objects for Vim.

Note the use of "pseudo", here. Conceptually, text object are "special" motions but there is no proper mechanism dedicated to creating text objects, specifically. We are left with the generic mechanism succinctly described under the easy-to-miss :help omap-info.

Writing one's own pseudo-text objects and motions is a great way to extend Vim without perverting its nature ;-).
