create a self signed wildcard ssl cert for testing with nginx.conf example

just change out app_name for your purposes

openssl genrsa 2048 > app_name-wildcard.key

openssl req -new -x509 -nodes -sha1 -days 3650 -key app_name-wildcard.key > app_name-wildcard.cert

# Common Name (eg, your name or your server's hostname) []:*.app_name.com

openssl x509 -noout -fingerprint -text < app_name-wildcard.cert > app_name-wildcard.info
Redirecting embedded Python’s I/O
Posted on 2012-4-13 by mvasilkov
When using Python for application scripting, more often than not you want to redirect interpreter’s input/output to the embedding program. This is how it’s done with the Python/C API:
PyObject *sys = PyImport_ImportModule("sys");
PyObject *out = PyFile_FromString("python_out", "w+");
PyObject_SetAttrString(sys, "stdout", out);
Pretty intuitive, right? Now embedded Python’s stdout points to the newly created file, python_out. Working with the script’s output from C is also trivial:

Routing tips for VPNs on OS X

Routing tips for VPNs on OS X

When VPNs Just Work™, they're a fantastic way of allowing access to a private network from remote locations. When they don't work it can be an experience in frustration. I've had situations where I can connect to a VPN from my Mac, but various networking situations cause routing conflicts. Here are a couple of cases and how I've been able to get around them.

Specific cases

Case 1: conflicting additional routes.

In this example the VPN we are connecting to has a subnet that does not conflict with our local IP, but has additional routes that conflict in some way with our local network's routing. In my example the remote subnet is 10.0.x.0/24, my local subnet is 10.0.y.0/24, and the conflicting route is 10.0.0.0/8. Without the later route, I can't access all hosts on the VPN without manually adding the route after connecting to the VPN:

Grab all Pinboard.in bookmarks for your account, create a bookmark file for Launchbar indexing
#!/usr/bin/ruby
=begin
This script is designed to generate a simple html file with _all_ of your Pinboard.in bookmarks
The HTML file can be added to Launchbar's index as a custom bookmark file and you can search
your entire Pinboard.in collection instantly from Launchbar (by title only). It includes
any applied tags as part of the title to aid in searching.
This does no checking for deltas, it just grabs the whole bunch and overwrites the html file
every time. Don't run it too frequently.
