Despite being derived from classical MVC pattern JavaScript and the environment it runs in makes Javascript MVC implementation have its own twists. Lets see how typical web MVC functions and then dive into simple, concrete JavaScript MVC implementation.
Typical server-side MVC implementation has one MVC stack layered behind the singe point of entry. This single point of entry means that all HTTP requests, e.g. http://www.example.com or http://www.example.com/whichever-page/ etc., are routed, by a server configuration, through one point or, to be bold, one file, e.g. index.php.
At that point, there would be an implementation of Front Controller pattern which analyzes HTTP request (URI at first place) and based on it decides which class (Controller) and its method (Action) are to be invoked as a response to the request (method is name for function and member is name for a variable when part of the class/object).
This is a compilation of questions that we have stumbled upon in our job interviews. None of the questions are generic or borrowed from internet, they are real questions. Me and the other authors (@rudiaj, manny) have decided not to log company names, as that would spoil the idea of the interview itself.
The questions come from multiple interviews for Full-Stack, Front-End and Back-End positions. All interviews were Junior Level. Most of the questions (level 1) deal with pretty basic stuff and serve a functional purpose of eliminating candidates that do not have a certain level of overall and precise knowledge. A smaller amount of questions are harder (level 2), and they are usually meant to test the way you solve problems. These questions are more important in the eyes of the employer, and this part of the test is often performed live or over a video call. These level 2 questions are almost always in the form of a programming task. The idea being that you are
Problem: How can we preprocess JavaScript (at build-time or on the server-side) so engines like V8 don't have to spend as much time in Parse? This is a topic that involves generating either bytecode or a bytecode-like-abstraction that an engine would need to accept. For folks that don't know, modern web apps typically spend a lot longer in Parsing & Compiling JS than you may think.
- Yoav: This can particularly be an issue on mobile. Same files getting parsed all the time for users. Theoretically if we moved the parsing work to the server-side, we would have to worry about it less.

Set up your environment carefully: It's important to have one canonical source of truth per environment, per platform. (i.e. iOS Development, iOS Testflight, iOS Production, ditto Android.) Every time you build, your config should propagate values from one input source (per platform) to either Java/JavaScript or Objective-C/JavaScript. Here's what we did for Android and here's what we did for iOS. I don't doubt that you can do better. Please do better. But you can't say that we didn't have one canonical source of truth that worked very simply and effectively throughout the development process.
