Bash Script PID file locking

Pattern below allows for a bash script to be called via, say, cron and check to see if it is already running.

Useful for things like rsync tasks.

PIDFILE=/var/run/myscriptname.pid

if [ -f $PIDFILE ]
then
 PID=$(cat $PIDFILE)

# An example hook script to verify what is about to be committed.
# Called by "git commit" with no arguments. The hook should

# To enable this hook, rename this file to "pre-commit".

Effective Modern CMake

Effective Modern CMake

Getting Started

For a brief user-level introduction to CMake, watch C++ Weekly, Episode 78, Intro to CMake by Jason Turner. LLVM’s CMake Primer provides a good high-level introduction to the CMake syntax. Go read it now.

After that, watch Mathieu Ropert’s CppCon 2017 talk Using Modern CMake Patterns to Enforce a Good Modular Design (slides). It provides a thorough explanation of what modern CMake is and why it is so much better than “old school” CMake. The modular design ideas in this talk are based on the book [Large-Scale C++ Software Design](https://www.amazon.de/Large-Scale-Soft

58 bytes of CSS to look great nearly everywhere

When making this website, i wanted a simple, reasonable way to make it look good on most displays. Not counting any minimization techniques, the following 58 bytes worked well for me:

main {
  max-width: 38rem;
  padding: 2rem;
  margin: auto;
}
