about:config settings to harden the Firefox browser. Privacy and performance enhancements.
To change these settings type 'about:config' in the url bar. Then search the setting you would like to change and modify the value. Some settings may break certain websites from functioning and rendering normally. Some settings may also make firefox unstable. I am not liable for any damages/loss of data.

Not all these changes are necessary and will be dependent upon your usage and hardware. Do some research on settings if you don't understand what they do. These settings are best combined with your standard privacy extensions (~~HTTPS Everywhere~~ No longer required: Enable HTTPS-Only Mode, NoScript/Request Policy, uBlock origin, agent spoofing, ~~Privacy Badger~~ etc), and all plugins set to "Ask To Activate".

Change your database RDS instance security group to allow your machine to access it.
- Add your ip to the security group to acces the instance via Postgres.
Make a copy of the database using pg_dump
- $ pg_dump -h <public dns> -U <my username> -f <name of dump file .sql> <name of my database>
- you will be asked for postgressql password.
- a dump file(.sql) will be created
Restore that dump file to your local database.
- but you might need to drop the database and create it first
- $ psql -U <postgresql username> -d <database name> -f <dump file that you want to restore>

the database is restored

Methods of Signing Git Commits on MacOS

This Gist explains how to sign commits using gpg in a step-by-step fashion. Previously, krypt.co was heavily mentioned, but I've only recently learned they were acquired by Akamai and no longer update their previous free products. Those mentions have been removed.

Additionally, 1Password now supports signing Git commits with SSH keys and makes it pretty easy-plus you can easily configure Git Tower to use it for both signing and ssh.

For using a GUI-based GIT tool such as Tower or Github Desktop, follow the steps here for signing your commits with GPG.
