How effectively delete a git submodule.

To remove a submodule you need to:

  • Delete the relevant section from the .gitmodules file.
  • Stage the .gitmodules changes git add .gitmodules
  • Delete the relevant section from .git/config.
  • Run git rm --cached path_to_submodule (no trailing slash).
  • Run rm -rf .git/modules/path_to_submodule (no trailing slash).
  • Commit git commit -m "Removed submodule "
  • Delete the now untracked submodule files rm -rf path_to_submodule

Install Powerline on Debian/Ubuntu
  1. Install pip sudo apt-get install python-pip or wget https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py && sudo python get-pip.py
  2. Install powerline sudo pip install powerline-status
  3. Download and install fonts git clone https://github.com/powerline/fonts.git && cd fonts && sh ./install.sh
  4. Add this lines to respective file
    .vimrc

set rtp+=/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/powerline/bindings/vim/
