Some useful Git aliases that I use every day
#
# Working with branches
#
# Get the current branch name (not so useful in itself, but used in
# other aliases)
branch-name = "!git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD"
# Push the current branch to the remote "origin", and set it to track
# the upstream branch
publish = "!git push -u origin $(git branch-name)"

Limit the frame-rate being targeted with requestAnimationFrame
/*
limitLoop.js - limit the frame-rate when using requestAnimation frame
Released under an MIT license.
When to use it?
----------------
A consistent frame-rate can be better than a janky experience only
occasionally hitting 60fps. Use this trick to target a specific frame-
rate (e.g 30fps, 48fps) until browsers better tackle this problem

git pr - Global .gitconfig aliases for Pull Request Managment

Install

Either copy the aliases from the .gitconfig or run the commands in add-pr-alias.sh

Usage

Easily checkout local copies of pull requests from remotes:

  • git pr 4 - creates local branch pr/4 from the github upstream(if it exists) or origin remote and checks it out
  • git pr 4 someremote - creates local branch pr/4 from someremote remote and checks it out

So, you want to run Chrome headless.

Update May 2017

Eric Bidelman has documented some of the common workflows possible with headless Chrome over in https://developers.google.com/web/updates/2017/04/headless-chrome.

Update

If you're looking at this in 2016 and beyond, I strongly recommend investigating real headless Chrome: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/lkgr/headless/README.md

Windows and Mac users might find using Justin Ribeiro's Docker setup useful here while full support for these platforms is being worked out.

(C-x means ctrl+x, M-x means alt+x)

Prefix key

The default prefix is C-b. If you (or your muscle memory) prefer C-a, you need to add this to ~/.tmux.conf:

remap prefix to Control + a
