Tuning Windows 10 for Slow Machines

This guide is for those who dares to install Windows 10 on slow netbooks (1GB of RAM).
Though Windows update program is over, you still may use old Windows product keys from license stickers to install Windows 10 on old machines.

This article is quite old, some instructions may be obsolete.

The repository for the assignment is public and Github does not allow the creation of private forks for public repositories.

The correct way of creating a private frok by duplicating the repo is documented here.

For this assignment the commands are:

Create a bare clone of the repository. (This is temporary and will be removed so just do it wherever.)

git clone --bare [email protected]:usi-systems/easytrace.git

Using nvmrc on Windows

Unfortunately nvm use on Windows does not change the node version to that specified in the .nvmrc file as its not supported on nvm for Windows: coreybutler/nvm-windows#388

So the easiest solution to this is to use a simple Powershell command that performs an approximation of the command as follows: nvm use $(Get-Content .nvmrc).replace( 'v', '' );

However, thats a bit awkward and we can do a bit more so instead, we can create an 'alias' to a function that calls the command instead:
