One Paragraph of project description goes here
These instructions will get you a copy of the project up and running on your local machine for development and testing purposes. See deployment for notes on how to deploy the project on a live system.
// set-up a connection between the client and the server
var socket = io.connect();
// let's assume that the client page, once rendered, knows what room it wants to join
var room = "abc123"; | |
socket.on('connect', function() {
// Connected, let's sign-up for to receive messages for this room
socket.emit('room', room);
}); |
Because pointers can be ugh
To understand a pointer, let's review "regular" variables first. If you're familiar with a programming language without pointers like JavaScript, this is what you think when you hear "variable".
When declaring a variable by identifier (or name), the variable is synonymous with its value.
Disclaimer: The instructions are the collective efforts from a few places online.
Nothing here is my original. But I want to put them together in one place to save people from spending the same time as I did.
First off, bundle. | |
================== | |
1. cd to the project directory
2. Start the react-native packager if not started
3. Download the bundle to the asset folder:
curl "http://localhost:8081/index.android.bundle?platform=android" -o "android/app/src/main/assets/index.android.bundle" |
Find the Discord channel in which you would like to send commits and other updates
In the settings for that channel, find the Webhooks option and create a new webhook. Note: Do NOT give this URL out to the public. Anyone or service can post messages to this channel, without even needing to be in the server. Keep it safe!
