Sete Atitudes para Hackear a Indústria de Software
Sete Atitudes para Hackear a Indústria de Software
By Klaus Wuestefeld
1) Torne-se excelente.
Seja realmente bom em alguma coisa. Não fique só choramingando ou
querendo progredir às custas dos outros. Não pense q pq vc sentou 4
anos numa faculdade ouvindo um professor falar sobre software q vc
sabe alguma coisa. Jogador de futebol não aprende a jogar bola tendo

How to use Rails 3.0's new notification system to inject custom log events

Instrument Anything in Rails 3

With Rails 3.0 released a few weeks ago I've migrated a few apps and I'm constantly finding useful new improvements. One such improvement is the ability to log anything in the same way that Rails internally logs ActiveRecord and ActionView. By default Rails 3 logs look slightly spiffier than those produced by Rails 2.3: (notice the second line has been cleaned up)

Started GET "/" for 127.0.0.1 at Mon Sep 06 01:07:11 -0400 2010
  Processing by HomeController#index as HTML
  User Load (0.2ms)  SELECT `users`.* FROM `users` WHERE (`users`.`id` = 3) LIMIT 1
  CACHE (0.0ms)  SELECT `users`.* FROM `users` WHERE (`users`.`id` = 3) LIMIT 1

Rendered layouts/_nav.html.erb (363.4ms)

require "rubygems"
require "chunky_png"
require "base64"
module Sass::Script::Functions
def background_noise(c, noise = 0.5, opacity = 0.08, size = 200, mono = false)
# Convert SASS numbers to Ruby classes
noise = noise.to_s.to_f if noise.is_a? Sass::Script::Number

(C-x means ctrl+x, M-x means alt+x)

Prefix key

The default prefix is C-b. If you (or your muscle memory) prefer C-a, you need to add this to ~/.tmux.conf:

remap prefix to Control + a

Big list of http static server one-liners

Each of these commands will run an ad hoc http static server in your current (or specified) directory, available at http://localhost:8000. Use this power wisely.

Discussion on reddit.

Python 2.x

Things that programmers don't know but should

(A book that I might eventually write!)

Gary Bernhardt

I imagine each of these chapters being about 2,000 words, making the whole book about the size of a small novel. For comparison, articles in large papers like the New York Times average about 1,200 words. Each topic gets whatever level of detail I can fit into that space. For simple topics, that's a lot of space: I can probably walk through a very basic, but working, implementation of the IP protocol.

It's now here, in The Programmer's Compendium. The content is the same as before, but being part of the compendium means that it's actively maintained.
