#Four Ways To Do Pub/Sub With jQuery and jQuery UI (in the future)
Between jQuery 1.7 and some of work going into future versions of jQuery UI, there are a ton of hot new ways for you to get your publish/subscribe on. Here are just four of them, three of which are new.
(PS: If you're unfamiliar with pub/sub, read the guide to it that Julian Aubourg and I wrote here http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/scriptjunkie/hh201955.aspx)
##Option 1: Using jQuery 1.7's $.Callbacks() feature:
| var util = require('util') | |
| function hook_stdout(callback) { | |
| var old_write = process.stdout.write | |
| process.stdout.write = (function(write) { | |
| return function(string, encoding, fd) { | |
| write.apply(process.stdout, arguments) | |
| callback(string, encoding, fd) | |
| } |
| echo 'export PATH=$HOME/local/bin:$PATH' >> ~/.bashrc | |
| . ~/.bashrc | |
| mkdir ~/local | |
| mkdir ~/node-latest-install | |
| cd ~/node-latest-install | |
| curl http://nodejs.org/dist/node-latest.tar.gz | tar xz --strip-components=1 | |
| ./configure --prefix=~/local | |
| make install # ok, fine, this step probably takes more than 30 seconds... | |
| curl https://www.npmjs.org/install.sh | sh |
| The regex patterns in this gist are intended to match any URLs, | |
| including "mailto:foo@example.com", "x-whatever://foo", etc. For a | |
| pattern that attempts only to match web URLs (http, https), see: | |
| https://gist.github.com/gruber/8891611 | |
| # Single-line version of pattern: | |
| (?i)\b((?:[a-z][\w-]+:(?:/{1,3}|[a-z0-9%])|www\d{0,3}[.]|[a-z0-9.\-]+[.][a-z]{2,4}/)(?:[^\s()<>]+|\(([^\s()<>]+|(\([^\s()<>]+\)))*\))+(?:\(([^\s()<>]+|(\([^\s()<>]+\)))*\)|[^\s`!()\[\]{};:'".,<>?«»“”‘’])) |
