Problem

PyCharm and IntelliJ IDEA use the .idea directory to keep project information. While the two seem to be able to read each other's files, they (currently) don't understand the other's settings.

Solution

The work-around (till they learn to play better with each other) is to keep their .idea folders separate, while sharing a common project source tree. Instructions follow below.

Command Editing Shortcuts

Ctrl + a – go to the start of the command line
Ctrl + e – go to the end of the command line
Ctrl + k – delete from cursor to the end of the command line
Ctrl + u – delete from cursor to the start of the command line
Ctrl + w – delete from cursor to start of word (i.e. delete backwards one word)
Ctrl + y – paste word or text that was cut using one of the deletion shortcuts (such as the one above) after the cursor

zf#j creates a fold from the cursor down # lines.
zf/string creates a fold from the cursor to string .
zj moves the cursor to the next fold.
zk moves the cursor to the previous fold.
zo opens a fold at the cursor.
zO opens all folds at the cursor.
zm increases the foldlevel by one.
zM closes all open folds.
