appinfo: A quick ruby script for Mac that returns some information for a specified Mac app in Terminal. Includes icon display if using imgcat or chafa are available.

appinfo

A script for getting details of installed Mac apps. Like Get Info but faster and cooler.

Save the script below as appinfo somewhere in your path. Make it executable with chmod a+x appinfo. Then just run appinfo APPNAME to get info on any installed app.

An easy way to make code that uses UIImage cross-platform between iOS/tvOS & macOS
// Either put this in a separate file that you only include in your macOS target
// or wrap the code in #if os(macOS) / #endif
import Cocoa
// Step 1: Typealias UIImage to NSImage
typealias UIImage = NSImage
// Step 2: You might want to add these APIs that UIImage has but NSImage doesn't.
extension NSImage {

Automatic Signing of DKMS-Generated Kernel Modules for Secure Boot

Automatic Signing of DKMS-Generated Kernel Modules for Secure Boot (Nvidia Driver on CentOS 8 as Example)

First I thank Nvidia for sponsoring the video card.

Secure Boot isn't exactly easy to configure to work with Linux and disabling it isn't really a good idea. Many modern Linux distributions provide the Microsoft-signed shim EFI binary to interpose between Secure Boot and the grub2 bootloader, making booting Linux easy enough if you only ever use kernels and drivers from the official repos. Still, enabling Secure Boot prevents the loading of kernel or modules without a proper digital signature. For example, the propriatary Nvidia GPU driver won't work, unless your distro really went to great lengths to distribute a signed version of the kernel module.

To make Secure Boot play nicely with the driver (i.e. to work at all), we can generate and import a Machine Owner Key (MOK)

A guide to building and using the audio-enabled "Screamer" fork of PowerPC QEMU on macOS and Windows

A guide to building and using the audio-enabled "Screamer" fork of PowerPC QEMU on macOS and Windows

Karen/あけみ (Twitter, Homepage)

Last updated: 2021/10/09 (QEMU-screamer version 6.1.50)

Here's a quickly-written guide describing how to build and use mcayland's excellent "Screamer" fork of QEMU which adds working audio support to QEMU for PowerPC guests!

Yes, this means working audio in PowerPC versions of OS X, Mac OS 9, and even Linux!

This guide isn't… quite up to my quality standards yet, but I figured I'd release it in this state regardless for anyone that might benefit from it, especially since I had to figure out quite a bit of this myself due to some of the existing documentation being somewhat outdated or incorrect.
