earmark box-shadow extends outside box, could compose with border-left-none or border-left-transparent
earmark inset box-shadow inside box, could compose with border-left-none re: border-width or border-style
earmark border works nicely if borders all around match color
earmark border-image doesn't quite work as is because it cancels all the borders
