Run Visual Studio Code for Linux from WSL

Thanks a lot to mredbishop and others for their insturctions posted here. This is just a recap of what they figured out.

This process was tested on WSL Ubuntu 18.04.

Install VcXsrv on Windows

Dowload the VcXsrv installer from https://sourceforge.net/projects/vcxsrv/
Install the software on Windows

Add VS Code repositories

Open File App\Providers\AppServiceProvider

Change method boot

Undefined variable $router

where : inside routes\web.php
solution : just add this comment on top that code or top of file after <?php

Run Laravel Scheduled Tasks on Windows

The following are instructions for running scheduled tasks defined in a Laravel project on Windows. The Laravel documentation provides instructions for running scheduled tasks using cron jobs on Linux systems. However, cron jobs are not available on Windows. The built-in Windows Task Scheduler can be used to run scheduled tasks instead.

Create a Scheduled Task

Open Task Scheduler
Select Create Task...
Give the task a name and description
To run the task in the background, select Run whether the user is logged on or not and check the Hidden checkbox.

	# Change to the project directory
	cd $FORGE_SITE_PATH

	# Turn on maintenance mode
	php artisan down \|\| true

	# Pull the latest changes from the git repository
	# git reset --hard
	# git clean -df
	git pull origin $FORGE_SITE_BRANCH
