These instructions work for the Raspberry Pi running Raspbian (hard float) and create a hardware optimized version of NodeJS for the Raspberry PI, (and include a working install and NPM!!!):
Install Raspbian - http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads
Install the necessary dependecies:
