Meteor Full Stack How To Learn

#How do I become a web app developer - Meteor style

What does an aspiring web developer need to know to develop a Meteor app? Below is a list of languages, frameworks, libraries, packages & more ;) .

The lists that follow are purposely ordered, unless noted. This article does not explain why you need to learn each item (that is up to you to figure out). Instead this article's purpose is to provide a quick roadmap or "thousand mile" view of the technologies a Meteor Dev works with daily.

When you are in the weeds of learning new things it feels good knowing you have a map to reference and measure your progress against.

Automounting in OSX Maverick

What Changed

I used to automount on OSX by sudo vifs and adding a line like vault.local:/backup /Volumes/backup url auto,url==afp://;AUTH=No%20User%[email protected]/backup 0 0. But that no longer works on Maverick because the system deletes everything in /Volumes on wake/restart/something-or-other.

We are going to create a mount at /mnt/Resources. We need to edit the auto_master to tell it where the automount config for /mnt/Resources lives:

sudo vi /etc/auto_master

Now add this line at the top

How to hide <select> dropdown's arrow in Firefox when using "-moz-appearance: none;".

This is no longer a bug. I'm keeping the gist for historical reasons, as it helped to get it fixed. Make sure to read the notes by the end of the post.

How to remove hide the select arrow in Firefox using -moz-appearance:none;

TL;DR (or, the fix)

  1. Set -moz-appearance to none. This will "reset" the styling of the element;
  2. Set text-indent to 0.01px. This will "push" the text a tiny bit[1] to the right;
Highcharts.Chart.prototype.callbacks.push(function(chart) {
var hasTouch = document.documentElement.ontouchstart !== undefined,
mouseTracker = chart.pointer,
container = chart.container,
mouseMove;
mouseMove = function (e) {
// let the system handle multitouch operations like two finger scroll
// and pinching
