Easily setup an Android development environment on a Mac

Here is a high level overview for what you need to do to get most of an Android environment setup and maintained.

Prerequisites (for Homebrew at a minimum, lots of other tools need these too):

  • XCode is installed (via the App Store)
  • XCode command line tools are installed (xcode-select --install will prompt up a dialog)
  • Java

Install Homebrew:

  • user signs up with email and password:

    • if the email exists, validation error.
    • if the email is linked to a facebook account, they'll see the "merge?" box when they try to link later
    • if the email doesn't exist, create the account!
      • Username is auto-generated
      • we send a welcome! email
      • we send a verification email

  • user decides to link a Facebook account:

  • when the user clicks on the "Link Facebook" link in profile, login with javascript SDK

This describes how I setup Atom for Clojure Development.

Atom Clojure Setup

This describes how I setup Atom for an ideal Clojure development workflow. This fixes indentation on newlines, handles parentheses, etc. The keybinding settings for enter (in keymap.cson) are important to get proper newlines with indentation at the right level. There are other helpers in init.coffee and keymap.cson that are useful for cutting, copying, pasting, deleting, and indenting Lisp expressions.
