Deploy your site with git

This gist assumes:

you have an online remote repository (github / bitbucket etc.)
you have a local git repo
and a cloud server (Rackspace cloud / Amazon EC2 etc)
- your (PHP) scripts are served from /var/www/html/
- your webpages are executed by Apache
the Apache user is named www-data (may be apache on other systems)

Simple Git Workflow For Continuous Delivery

Workflow guidelines:

master branch is always production-ready, deployable, 100% green test suite
New development is done on feature branches, with frequent rebasing onto master
Clean commit history by preferring to rebase instead of merge (git pull is configured to automatically rebase)

Workflow

Install Supervisor with sudo apt-get install supervisor. Ensure it's started with sudo service supervisor restart.

In /etc/supervisord/conf.d/ create a .conf file. In this example, laravel_queue.conf (contents below). Give it execute permissions: chmod +x laravel_queue.conf.

This file points at /usr/local/bin/run_queue.sh, so create that file there. Give this execute permissions, too: chmod +x run_queue.sh.

Now update Supervisor with: sudo supervisorctl reread. And start using those changes with: sudo supervisorctl update.
