Use Proxy for Git/GitHub

Use Proxy for Git/GitHub

Generally, the Git proxy configuration depends on the Git Server Protocol you use. And there're two common protocols: SSH and HTTP/HTTPS. Both require a proxy setup already. In the following, I assume a SOCKS5 proxy set up on localhost:1080. But it can also be a HTTP proxy. I'll talk about how to set up a SOCKS5 proxy later.

SSH Protocol

When you do git clone ssh://[user@]server/project.git or git clone [user@]server:project.git, you're using the SSH protocol. You need to configurate your SSH client to use a proxy. Add the following to your SSH config file, say ~/.ssh/config:

ProxyCommand nc -x localhost:1080 %h %p

[Recipe] Delete all your likes/favorites from Twitter

Ever wanted to delete all your likes/favorites from Twitter but only found broken/expensive tools? You are in the right place.

  1. Go to: https://twitter.com/{username}/likes
  2. Open the console and run the following JavaScript code:
setInterval(() => {
  for (const d of document.querySelectorAll('div[data-testid="unlike"]')) {
    d.click()
 }

Longhorn hcloud best practices

Longhorn best practices

The following settings are provided as an example how longhorn should be configured in a production cluster, especially if it is deployed on Hetzner Cloud infrastructure.

Hetzner server nodes provide local storage and allow up to five attached volumes (with a size of up to 10TiB each) Local storage is provided by NVMe storage and therefore is much faster than the attached volumes, but limited in size (max 300GiB usable).

It is assumed that the cluster creation is already done, e.g. via terraform scripts provided by the great kube-hetzner project.
