- What do Etcd, Consul, and Zookeeper do?
- Service Registration:
- Host, port number, and sometimes authentication credentials, protocols, versions numbers, and/or environment details.
- Service Discovery:
- Ability for client application to query the central registry to learn of service location.
- Consistent and durable general-purpose K/V store across distributed system.
- Some solutions support this better than others.
- Based on Paxos or some derivative (i.e. Raft) algorithm to quickly converge to a consistent state.
- Service Registration:
- Centralized locking can be based on this K/V store.

- Download docker-compose.yml to dir named
sentry
- Change
SENTRY_SECRET_KEY
to random 32 char string - Run
docker-compose up -d
- Run
docker-compose exec sentry sentry upgrade
to setup database and create admin user - (Optional) Run
docker-compose exec sentry pip install sentry-slack
if you want slack plugin, it can be done later - Run
docker-compose restart sentry
- Sentry is now running on public port

Here's a list of mildly interesting things about the C language that I learned mostly by consuming Clang's ASTs. Although surprises are getting sparser, I might continue to update this document over time.
There are many more mildly interesting features of C++, but the language is literally known for being weird, whereas C is usually considered smaller and simpler, so this is (almost) only about C.
