Using travis_retry inside shell scripts together with set -e

If you want to use travis_retry from within your own shell script files then you first have to make the travis_retry shell function available by sourcing the travis_retry.sh file, otherwise you just get a "command not found" error. See example.sh for a full example.

Note that the original function as found in the travis-ci/travis-build repository was slightly modified to allow it to be used in a shell context where set -e is enabled.

For reference, a tweet by Travis CI saying that you should copy the travis_retry code as I've done here: https://twitter.com/plexus/status/499194992632811520

Linux on MacBook Pro Late 2016 and Mid 2017 (with Touchbar)

Introduction

This is about documenting getting Linux running on the late 2016 and mid 2017 MPB's; the focus is mostly on the MacBookPro13,3 and MacBookPro14,3 (15inch models), but I try to make it relevant and provide information for MacBookPro13,1, MacBookPro13,2, MacBookPro14,1, and MacBookPro14,2 (13inch models) too. I'm currently using Fedora 27, but most the things should be valid for other recent distros even if the details differ. The kernel version is 4.14.x (after latest update).

The state of linux on the MBP (with particular focus on MacBookPro13,2) is also being tracked on https://github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux . And for Ubuntu users there are a couple tutorials (here and here) focused on that distro and the MacBook.

Note: For those who have followed these instructions ealier, and in particular for those who have had problems with the custom DSDT, modifying the DSDT is not necessary anymore - se

Installing Brew
The Mosquitto MQTT Server can be easily installed using Homebrew. If it’s not installed on your system already, then a quick visit to the homepage will give you all you need to get going. Homebrew is an OS X Package Manager for installing and updating non-Mac OS X utilities that are more commonly found in other variants of Linux. To install the basic package manager run the following command.
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"

The reason of creating this script is that Endpoint Security VPN installs it's own application firewall kext cpfw.kext which prevents for example PPTP connections from this computer, which is not appropriate if you need subj connection just from time to time.
