Getting a Shell in the Docker Desktop Mac VM

2021 Update: Easiest option is Justin's repo and image

Just run this from your Mac terminal and it'll drop you in a container with full permissions on the Docker VM. This also works for Docker for Windows for getting in Moby Linux VM (doesn't work for Windows Containers).

docker run -it --rm --privileged --pid=host justincormack/nsenter1

Git pre-commit hook to verify committer email

Description

The goal of this hook is to allow you catch when you're committing with an email you shouldn't on a public repositories. In some cases, certain companies need to seperate their internal coporate email accounts from those that might be used for committing to public repositories.

Setting up.

The UNWANTED_EMAIL_SUFFIX should be the suffix (after the @ sign) of the email address you do not want to appear in the git logs. The DESIRED_AUTHOR_EMAIL and DESIRED_AUTHOR_NAME are the respective email and name you want to show up in the git logs.

How to SSH into Windows 10 or 11?

How to SSH into Windows 10 or 11?

The latest builds of Windows 10 and Windows 11 include a build-in SSH server and client that are based on OpenSSH. This means now you can remotely connect to Windows 10/11 or Windows Server 2019 using any SSH client, like Linux distros. Let's see how to configure OpenSSH on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and connect to it using Putty or any other SSH client.

OpenSSH is an open-source, cross-platform version of Secure Shell (SSH) that is used by Linux users for a long time. This project is currently ported to Windows and can be used as an SSH server on almost any version of Windows. In the latest versions of Windows Server 2022/2019 and Windows 11, OpenSSH is built-in to the operating system image.
