Markdown License Badges for your Project

Markdown License badges

Collection of License badges for your Project's README file.
This list includes the most common open source and open data licenses.
Easily copy and paste the code under the badges into your Markdown files.

Notes

  • The badges do not fully replace the license informations for your projects, they are only emblems for the README, that the user can see the License at first glance.

An iTerm2 Cheatsheet

In the below keyboard shortcuts, I use the capital letters for reading clarity but this does not imply shift, if shift is needed, I will say shift. So + D does not mean hold shift. + Shift + D does of course.

Tabs and Windows

Function Shortcut
New Tab + T
Close Tab or Window + W (same as many mac apps)
Go to Tab + Number Key (ie: ⌘2 is 2nd tab)
Go to Split Pane by Direction + Option + Arrow Key

Vagrant Cheat Sheet

Typing vagrant from the command line will display a list of all available commands.

Be sure that you are in the same directory as the Vagrantfile when running these commands!

Creating a VM

  • vagrant init -- Initialize Vagrant with a Vagrantfile and ./.vagrant directory, using no specified base image. Before you can do vagrant up, you'll need to specify a base image in the Vagrantfile.
  • vagrant init <boxpath> -- Initialize Vagrant with a specific box. To find a box, go to the public Vagrant box catalog. When you find one you like, just replace it's name with boxpath. For example, vagrant init ubuntu/trusty64.

Starting a VM

  • vagrant up -- starts vagrant environment (also provisions only on the FIRST vagrant up)

Ruby to Rust Cheat Sheet

Ruby to Rust Cheat Sheet

The goal of this is to have an easily-scannable reference for the most common syntax idioms in Ruby and Rust so that programmers most comfortable with Ruby can quickly get through the syntax differences and feel like they could read and write basic Rust programs.

What do you think? Does this meet its goal? If not, why not?

Things to commit just before leaving your job
// Just before switching jobs:
// Add one of these.
// Preferably into the same commit where you do a large merge.
//
// This started as a tweet with a joke of "C++ pro-tip: #define private public",
// and then it quickly escalated into more and more evil suggestions.
// I've tried to capture interesting suggestions here.
