EDIT from 2019: Hi folks. I wrote this gist for myself and some friends, and it seems like it's gotten posted somewhere that's generated some (ahem, heated) discussion. ~~The whitespace was correct when it was posted, and since then GitHub changed how it formats <pre> tags. Look at the raw text if you care about this. I'm sure someone could tell me how to fix it, but~~ (thank you @anzdaddy for suggesting a formatting workaround) honestly this is a random throwaway gist from 2015, and someone more knowledgable about this comparison should just write a proper blog post about it. Important Note

Please use built-in Terminal.app (of Mac OS X) to type and rune the command, do not use another tool (like iTerm2).

Common step after enter run the patch command:

After run the commands, start new Sublime Text app, go to Main Menu > Help > Enter License. On the popup type in any text (example "a") and click Use Licence .

To remove a submodule you need to:

Delete the relevant section from the .gitmodules file.
Stage the .gitmodules changes git add .gitmodules
Delete the relevant section from .git/config.
Run git rm --cached path_to_submodule (no trailing slash).
Run rm -rf .git/modules/path_to_submodule (no trailing slash).
Commit git commit -m "Removed submodule "
Delete the now untracked submodule files rm -rf path_to_submodule

Yosemite upgrade notes

From a (mostly) Ruby on Rails developer.

After doing the below everything seems to work (some of it worked before doing anything), including Ruby, Gems, RVM, Homebrew, VirtualBox/Vagrant VMs, Pow, tmux, git, vim.

Did a full-disk backup that I can restore from
