This is a tutorial show how to version your saves using Git.

Q: Why would anyone go through this process?
A: Because if you do, you can undo an otherwise un-undoable action, such as swimming in a pit of lava and accidentally dropping your Notch armpit forged special edition diamond pickaxe and your 35 stacks of cobblestone.

Before you begin

For Gummiboot, EFI must be enabled in the bios setup BEFORE YOU START the installation process. It will yell at you if this is not enabled.
If you do not have UEFI, it may be easier to use rEFInd or Grub2

Recovering deleted files in Ubuntu with ext4 filesystem

Recently, I deleted some files by mistake in a Ubuntu machine with an ext4 fs. These notes document the steps I took to get them back.

Important

this procedure assumes that the partition that contained the deleted files is different from the root partition, as that was the scenario with which I had to deal (deleted files were in my home dir). The procedure needs that the partition that contained the files is unmounted, so if the deleted files were in the root partition, the process would be a bit different (e.g. storing the fs journal in a USB stick, using a live CD/USB to boot and issue the commands, etc.)

With that out the way, let's begin.

Linux command to hibernate and then reboot into a different OS

In this document I describe my setup about how to add a menu shortcut that will hibernate and reboot the system into a different OS (in my case, Windows), and then restore linux on the next reboot.

For this, I'll be using Arch Linux with systemd-boot as my boot manager, but in practice any bootloader that handles the LoaderEntryOneShot (a.k.a. BootNext) efivar should work.

NOTE It is advisable to not do this with window's fast boot feature active, since alternating the hibernation of two systems can cause shared partitions to get corrupted. However, if additional steps are taken in order to ensure the shared partition are unmounted before reboot, or no partitions are shared between the two OSs, this can be made to work with fastboot enabled which should give quite a boost in Windows' startup time.

Delete discord user message history

This script allow for user specific message deletion from an entire server or a single channel using the browser console. This script uses discord search API and it will only delete messages of a chosen user.

How to use

1. Enable developer mode in discord

Go to user settings > appearance in discord and enable Developer mode.

2. Copy and paste the script to a file so you can change the server and author ids.

3. Replace the server and author ids with your own.

This Gist has been elevated to the Github repository Aldaviva/VivaldiCustomResources because it's easier to deal with that way.

VivaldiCustomLauncher 1.1.5 uses the new repo to download resources.
