ESLint Reset - A starter .eslintrc file that resets all rules to off and includes a description of what each rule does. From here, enable the rules that you care about by changing the 0 to a 1 or 2. 1 means warning (will not affect exit code) and 2 means error (will affect exit code).

Clojure deftype, defrecord, defprotocol
  • defprotocol: defines an interface
  • deftype: create a bare-bones object which implements a protocol
  • defrecord: creates an immutable persistent map which implements a protocol

Typically you'll use defrecord (or even a basic map);
unless you need some specific Java inter-op,
where by you'll want to use deftype instead.

Note: defprotocol allows you to add new abstractions in a clean way Rather than (like OOP) having polymorphism on the class itself,

Running Clojure on Raspberry Pi with OS X

Clojure on Raspberry Pi with OS X

"Clojure running on Raspberry Pi" sounded so cool that I just had to give it a try.

Install JDK

  • Download ARM JDK from Oracle and instlal on Raspberry Pi
  • Change visudo to contain the following

my ~/.ctags. Please note this is configuration for Exuberant Ctags. If you use Universal Ctags, you need run `ctags --options="$HOME/.ctags" -e -R` in shell at least once and fix all the warnings.

Boot Camp / Dual Boot on an iMac 27" Mid 2011

Dual Booting on an iMac 27" Mid 2011

UPDATE: See comment section below this post.

This guide is so complicated because the iMac's 27" Mid 2011 SuperDrive doesn't recognise the windows install disc. It's useless.

IMPORTANT: Unplug all external and physical hard drives (where possible) that you won't be installing to to avoid accidentally erasing them. Also make note of which drives and partitions remain (e.g. System and Storage hard drives), and be super careful to not erase the wrong one.

RECOVERY: If you nuke your machine, restore your time machine backup. Instructions here.

Documenting my experiments with Ogre3D.

Reading the docs

Seems well-organized, wish I had read that years ago - things I found out about rendering by trial and lots of errors are clearly stated there. It probably helped for comprehension that I struggled with these for years but now things make sense.

Approach is clearly a scene-graph but more involved than libgdx's 3D framework: lots of built-in techniques (e.g. for Shadows), implementations of frequently-used algorithms (BSPs, Octrees), etc.

Own binary model format with pre-computed LODs / edge lists, exporter available from Blender: blender2ogre (supports Blender up to 2.66)
