Fourier series visualisation with d3.js.

From Wikipedia:

In mathematics, a Fourier series decomposes periodic functions or periodic signals into the sum of a (possibly infinite) set of simple oscillating functions, namely sines and cosines (or complex exponentials).

Use the bottom right form to change the visualized serie.

Below are simple styles to "flatten" bootstrap. I didn't go through every control and widget that bootstrap offers, only what was required for https://commando.io, so your milage may vary.
/* Flatten das boostrap */
.well, .navbar-inner, .popover, .btn, .tooltip, input, select, textarea, pre, .progress, .modal, .add-on, .alert, .table-bordered, .nav>.active>a, .dropdown-menu, .tooltip-inner, .badge, .label, .img-polaroid {

15 Questions to Ask During a Ruby Interview

Originally published in June 2008

When hiring Ruby on Rails programmers, knowing the right questions to ask during an interview was a real challenge for me at first. In 30 minutes or less, it's difficult to get a solid read on a candidate's skill set without looking at code they've previously written. And in the corporate/enterprise world, I often don't have access to their previous work.

To ensure we hired competent ruby developers at my last job, I created a list of 15 ruby questions -- a ruby measuring stick if you will -- to select the cream of the crop that walked through our doors.

What to expect

Candidates will typically give you a range of responses based on their experience and personality. So it's up to you to decide the correctness of their answer.

Ubuntu 12.04 Ruby, Rails, Nginx, Unicorn

Ubuntu 12.04, Ruby, Rails, Nginx, Unicorn and git-deploy

In the seemlingly endless search for the actual correct and easy way to deploy a Rails app, we have tried several ways. We tried out using Apache2 and running a cluster of Thin servers. With the built in threading of Puma we decided to use it with Nginx.

Server Setup

  • Create new server
  • Login to new server
    • ssh root@IPaddress (you can also use the domain name if you have the DNS setup already)
    • accept the RSA key
